Patriotic Style the Crafty Way

With only 10 days until our country's 236th birthday, I thought it would be fun to give our readers a few ideas to get their crafty style poppin'! I personally like the RW&B year round, but these items will go an extra mile this year as we support Team USA in the 2012 Summer Olympics- I can't wait to see what the designers are pulling out for us there!

I made this shirt for my daughter last year courtesy of Make it and Love it! It has been a huge hit and she can still wear it this year!

Patriotic Beaded FlipFlops anyone?
Most of you know that I make these like crazy! What started out as a football fundraiser for my son, has now become a popular gift item, raffle item and just all around favorite among sport moms! A few of our RHOK readers have even received a pair at our RHOK Outs.

For a little patriotic style around the home, or even a hostess gift you could make a patriotic Wordle like this one to frame.

And finally I will show you what my daughter and I will be sporting this year for the 4th! I think I saw this idea on Pinterest, but never pinned it so I can't give it credit to anyone in particular. Besides at less that $8 for both shirts, the rick rack, ribbon and some Liquid Stitch that I already had on hand this was the easiest style maker ever!
(I'm still not 100% sure about the bow on mine though, but for one day I guess I can bow out.)

What will you we wearing and doing to get your Boom Boom Pow on?
Hope I gave you a few ideas, if you notice I didn't even touch on all the food.

Christmas Wardrobe Dilemna

I think admit I may have a problem. I seriously may need a local fashion intervention either by close friends, my fellow RHOKers or by local professional stylish consultant, Stylish Stepmom Heidi Ducato. This is serious. I keep hearing and reading about these parties called "ugly" Christmas sweater parties, and then my friend Mrs. Melissa wrote in her guest post yesterday about a "lovely" wearing Christmas vest lady who gave her and her cute little daughter LuLu a hard time for doing a jingle in the Wal-Mart baking aisle.
I own a total of seven, yes SEVEN Christmas/Winter type sweaters. Now bear in mind, I HAVE NOT wore these sweaters in several years, I just haven't parted with them.
What? I was in bank management for 10 years and was required to dress up. I know, I haven't had to dress the part in almost five years, but those sweaters cost a lot of moolah and they will come back into style, right?
Okay, I can argue until I am blue in the face, so I am just going to let YOU decide for me. I have taken a picture of three of the sweaters and you get to tell me what to do.
Keep, Donate, or Save for an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.

Okay, I am at your fashion mercy. Praying that I do not have to resort to a larger intervention here. Although, if you do want to call TLC's Stacy & Clinton go right ahead. My entire closet really does need the help. (I really do still have the entire bank wardrobe)

Hair Troubles In Tulsa

Hello!  Good morning!  I'm the last of the new RHOKstars to post.  You can call me "Mrs. Edwards".  I really hate that whole "Mrs" thing.  It makes me feel old, but Mrs it is.  I've been married to my college sweetheart for 12 years.  We have one adorable and funny 6 year old.  I've always been an Oklahoma girl.  In case you're wondering, I'm a Sooner fan.  I hope we're still friends.  I think you'll find that I'm very passionate about life.  Having fun is a main objective of mine.  You'll probably question my age from time to time.  Just for the record, I'm 29 and holding.

I'm so excited about being a part of The RHOK and I look forward to getting to know you all!

Without further ado, onto my post for today...

Is there a time in a woman's life, you know when she is accelerated in age *shut your mouth...I am NOT old* that she should wear her hair shorter?

I was recently having this discussion with my Granny and she seems to think that longer hair on women who are older is not "becoming". (Which is her way of telling me in her Granny-ese that I need to get my hair cut...like yesterday.) She feels that it begins to age you and that a shorter hair style makes you look younger.

What are your thoughts on this?
I'm really curious and I need to know.

I've been letting my hair grow out recently. I'm not sure why. I think it's pretty much because I don't know what else to do with it. I don't have a shorter hairstyle in mind.  I don't have anything I'm itching to try...so, I let it grow.

My hair kind of looks like this when it's short...sometimes it's a hott mess.
I would love if my hair looked like this.  I would keep it short.  Forever.  I need to look like her too...and I would take her boyfriend from Private Practice as a bonus.
Hello, Taye Diggs!

What?  Who said that?

Achem, my husband...right.  Where was I going with this?

Oh, yes.  My husband would pay me to cut it right now. He prefers me with short hair. Kinda weird, right? Most men like women to have longer hair...flowing locks...or do they?

I personally feel older when my hair is too short...and I'm not...old.  29 and holding, thank you very much.

I also keep it longer because it's versatile. I can wear it back in a headband (I *big fuzzy red heart* cute headbands!), pull it back, put it in a ponytail, etc.

So tell me, do you think there is a certain age that you shouldn't grow your hair out? Is there a time in our lives when shorter hair is the answer to looking younger?

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Oh, and you won't hurt my feelings, so if you've seen a recent picture and thought "her hair is hideous", please let me know in the comments.

Sincerely, Hair Troubles in Tulsa

-Mrs. Edwards
