In Your Neck of The Woods: Good Bye, New Facebook, Guest Posts- A Plethora

Today we say good-bye to the In Your Neck of the Woods meme. We are currently are thinking of some ideas for the future in way of a new meme. But, we would like YOUR input! Please comment and leave some suggestions for us to discuss!

Meanwhile, in my Neck of the Woods, I've become a "developer" for Facebook. Really, I wish that was as important as it may sound-like come with salary, but it doesn't. It just means I can see the new timeline that is soon coming and mess with it BEFORE others. And I can show it to you, because well, I can screenshot.

It's kind of like a blog/MySpace less the crap. (Just to prove the point MarkyZ wouldn't like me to say this, the whole second half of this sentence appeared in broken code for no reason whatsoever, randomly- and I did not notice till this morning, after it had been up over 7 hours. Hmmmm. I did not know his power was so vast!)

I've been a member of FB for 4 years, 5 months and 9 days. I've been here since all my friends were Canadian. I've been through many a change. None of them really bother me. This one doesn't either. But, I am a little more tech savvy than the average person (I think). I am NOT so sure the older generation is going to be down with it, but it looks very good to me!

You can also go way back easily. Like when my kids looked like this:

and I was posting about Christmas. You can move back very quickly to catch up with people, and starting from when born, you can see when all your family (confirmed as so) came along, then you graduated, etc., etc. It's so cool. Really it is. Don't be scared.

To Be So Lucky

You might think we were lucky to win the spirit stick at our boys' football game for the 3rd time (out of 4).

Nope.

That took hard work.

 Other parents aren't so amused anymore, so we may have to quit trying.
Their kids want to know why they don't win the spirit stick.

If they would just stand up and cheer or yell they could earn it, you know.

But LUCKY?

Yes I am.

Sitting in a wide open field, I had a large splat of bird poo land on my head.

I had just washed my hair.

I'd been at the game for five whole minutes.

Not one other person got pooped on.

Just me.

It's a sign of great things to come, I am sure of it.

Didn't smell too good though.

And that is what is going on in my neck of the woods.

Howdy RHOK Stars! How are you today?
Things are a lil' crazy round the ranch this week. Summer is over & the ranch hands are feeling a little frisky with the start of Fall. Yesterday we didn't have any running water at the main house. I'm not sure how the pioneer women did it without running water. I mean really, this getting water from a bucket is for the birds.
I thought I might die.
Thankfully my trusty housewife friend, Mrs. Albright, lives in town. She allowed me to come clean up at her house.

Keeping it Real NOT Like a...

Sneaking a Peek Into Your Neck of the Woods- CYA to the Sun!!

Twenty-Five years! Wow! That is the number of years that my hometown Wilson, OK has been having its annual Fall Fest. So hard to believe that I was, yes- 11 years old when we celebrated the first event. For the several years now I have tried to make it a point to go back during Labor Day weekend to celebrate this event and catch up with old friends and family. This year I actually participated a little differently.

 I ran/walked/giggled/talked/jogged and giggled my way through my first 5K!

I joined my Moma for her second 5K and my cousin Tonya for her first 5K.

I have been reading this book since Christmas 2010 called Run Like a Mother.  I started reading this book because I placed on my bucket list to run a 1/2 marathon by October of this year. Yeah, it usually doesn't take me nine months to read a book. I really do want to be a runner and not just a walker, but I need a magic spell placed over me to "like" running. So, I did not succeed in my plan of a 13.1 but, I do have my first race under my belt.

You know, it is a HUGE thing to do something like this by yourself  and train like both my cousin and Moma have done. But another secret that helps go the extra mile is the encouragement received from family, friends and other peers. Crossing the finish line was an amazing feeling of success and having each and every organizer, sponsor and participant that finished before us to cheer us on was an absolute honor.

Congratulations to all CYA to the Sun 5K Run/Walk Fall Fest 2011 participants!

I really didn't want to share this one. See the support at the finish line. My son  is even there. We really need to work on my form. LOL! Oh and our time...we tied of course (even though I think she beat me) ...42.87!

It's Tuesday...You know what that means?? Yip! Neck of the Woods Day!

Around my neck, it's football, football, football. I am so lucky this year that Gavin LOVES his team and Joe LOVES to go to practice. We started scrimmages though, and this last week ours was in Fort Gibson on Friday night. That's like the jackpot. You know why? Your Saturday is FREE!

But back to football. You see since a bunch of men run uniform selection, everyone and their dog has about 12 extra jerseys laying about. There isn't a thing wrong with them either. And since women are never going to get their "can't we just wear the same one as last year" way, I attempted to make something useful.

Oh and also, I went to the 2nd part of my sleep study so I could try this thing that will help me sleep all wonderful and I'll be like rainbows and glitter in the morning.

It's a dirty word.
Puberty.

My twelve year old is about to dive right in.
How do I know?

His legs are beginning to resemble those of this guy.

Fortunately, he doesn't have fleas on his inner thighs.
Otherwise this is an accurate comparison.

When I noticed the furry legs I said, "Michael!  Your legs are getting so hairy!"
And he yelled, "CURSE YOU PUBERTY!"

So that's what is going on in our neck of the woods.

In Your Neck of The Woods ~ Deep in the Heart of...

Did you know that a couple of the RHOK don't care for Texas. I won't mention any names, but they are the ones who love the crimson & cream. There I said it. I feel better now that the secret is out. LOL.
Some of us don't share that feeling. I really like Texas. I lived in the Dallas area after college & fell in love.
You know the song, "The stars at night are big & bright. Deep in the Heart of Texas..."
So sweet, especially when a cute Texas Cowboy is singing it to you. Sigh...
Anyway back to my post.
My friend posted this pic on social media & allowed me to share it with you today.
It shows the innovation & advancement in society in the state of Texas. I for one think it's ingenious!

It's Tuesday, so you know what that means! It's time to show us your neck of the woods. Surely y'all know how to play by now....so get to it. I know you're just setting in the A/C anyway.

So here, like everywhere in a 500 miles radius or more, it's hot. And I don't mean hot, I mean HOT, as in we could be close to hell and melt AT ANY MINUTE. It has to be serious for me to use all CAPS people. SERIOUS.

In My Neck of the Woods- Our Loss

 The Hart household experienced a loss this past Thursday night. I never expected the Hart children to take a loss such as this so hard. Just look at these faces and their body language. 

  Yes, it was a fish funeral and my children believe that all drains lead to the ocean- like in Nemo. ;-p

Our fish Hush was my son's second fish and my daughter's first. He was named after PBS Sprout's goldfish on the Goodnight Show. He had been a member of our family for three years. That has to be a record, right?

We hope you have a good time in the ocean, wish we were there with you- only by a totally different route!

And of course in order to cheer the Hart kids up, we did NOT get them a puppy but...

In Your Neck Of The Woods

I'm sitting here with tissues stuck up my nose so it doesn't drip on the keyboard.

I think I'm paying for all the fun I had this weekend.

Mrs. Hart told you guys yesterday that 5 of us housewives partied like it was 1989 at the NKOTBSB concert on Sunday night.

There were a couple of housewives who didn't know NKOTB from BSB...but I won't mention any names...*achem*mrsalbright*achem*mrspriss*achem*

Joey sang to me.

I proposed.

I also had a GNO on Friday night and hung out with Impulsive Addict on Saturday night.  I don't think I'm conditioned for that kind of nightlife. (<----this does NOT mean I'm old, so shut up...I know what you were thinking.)

I'm going to replace my tissues in my nose and drug up before bed.

Who gave the OK for head colds in the dead of summer?  They should be fired.

SHAME ON YOU!

We try to go every year and I have the whole darn thing memorized.  I should probably be ashamed of that, but I really do love it.  It's a great way to honor our Okie heritage.  I'm always amazed by how many people from other states and countries (for real!) end up in Sand Springs to watch the show.

This year, I brought my parents and niece with me.

Totally entertained.

I made them go early enough to see the Indian War Dancer and the PreShow.

My folks were disappointed that everything at the ampitheater is not.  I guess I forgot to warn them that it wasn't going to be fancy.

We all agree that the talent on stage is fantastic.
If you have a chance to go see it, you really should.
I still have song lyrics running through my head!

If you go, I don't recommend the food.  Maybe it's just me?  I say eat before you go.
Bring your bug spray and wear cool clothes and you will be set for a fun night!
