A Mommy at 5?

Mr. Coco likes to watch the History Channel.  Sometimes (only rarely really) do I get sucked into something that he's watching.  But this time, I couldn't remove my eyes from the tv screen and I found myself researching this amazing yet demented story online.

Pregnant at age 5? Yes.  Unfortunately, that is a true statement.  The youngest KNOWN female to ever give birth was this little girl named Madina. They thought she had a tumor in her tummy.
Pregnant at age 5.  POOR GIRL.
My first thought was why the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks is a 5 year old girl having sex?  Then I immediately concluded that it wasn't by her choice which makes me super sad.  It happened back in 1939--obviously before DNA testing.  They arrested her daddy but they released him a short time later for "lack of evidence".  It makes my heart hurt for her.

Madina began menstruating at the age of 8 months.  Whaaat?  At four years old, she had already developed breasts and pubic hair.  NO WAY!!

In May of 1939, Medina's son, Gerardo, discovered at the age of 10 that the person he had grown up believing to be his sister was in fact his mother. CAN YOU IMAGINE??

Sadly, Gerardo died in 1979 at the age of 40 from a bone marrow disease. In 1972, thirty-three years after the birth of Gerardo and after she had married, Medina gave birth to another son.

I feel like I just gave a book report.  I'm sorry, but I couldn't quit looking up information on this story.  Maybe I was looking for something saying it was a myth.  I just found it heartbreaking and mind-bending all at the same time.

So, tell us about a story that you read/heard which was UNBELIEVABLY TRUE!

xoxo,
Mrs. Coco

Sex and Headaches

Ladies,
Does this sound familiar?
  • You've had a lousy day that started at 6:00am when the dog puked up all the veggies that got tossed onto the floor from your infant child the night before.
  • The kid(s) are OOC (out of control) and hyped on pure sugar that he/she/they stole out of your secret hiding spot for an emergency chocolate fix that now consists of only tiny chocolate pieces and an empty wrapper.
  • Dinner didn't get started on time AGAIN and it smells like it might be burning.
  • The phone keeps ringing and twice it was a telemarketer who speaks another language that you keep hanging up on because you can't understand a single word she says.
  • You had a long list of errands that needed to get done but only got partially done because you were on the phone for 2 hours trying to take care of a bill that you've already paid FOUR MONTHS AGO but they keep sending you a bill for it anyway.
  • You look at yourself in the mirror and wonder how long that piece of ham as been sitting in your hair and hope that it was AFTER some of the errands got taken care of but fear it's been there since lunch.
And then HONEY BUNNY comes home with a giant smile on his face, smacks you on the bum and wants to know if you're "ready for the earth to shake tonight?".

Or does this only happen to me?  Regardless, I'm here to clue you in RIGHT NOW ladies....

Sex DOES NOT cure headaches. And frankly I'm sick of falling for this trick.

I just wanted to send a warning out to all the RHOK FEMALE followers. I would hate to see any of you fall for this line of crap like I have...about 25 times.

Don't you judge me.  I've taken one 25 for the team.

You're welcome.

MckLinky Monday-Top 5 Pet Peeves!

Today's MckLinky Monday is a topic that EVERYONE can relate to--Pet Peeves.  We all have them.  And to be honest, we all probably have more than 5 but I'll try my best to keep it at that instead of listing all 68 of mine.  You are welcome.

{worth noting are some that barely missed the cut: noisy eaters, best friend turned serial killer, invasion of personal space, jerks who take up two parking places, spit talkers, improper knife users, public nose pickers, conspiracy theories, and people who sneeze/cough without covering their mouth.}

1. Word verification/Non-comment bloggers*.  {Yes, I'm putting two together because they both have to do with blogging, m'kay?}.
  A) I totally get why people have the word verification on their account.  I did too for a while but it's SOOOO annoying!  Since I've taken mine off (well over a year ago) I have only had one spam message.  ONE! And the verifications that I really hate are the sneaky ones that pop up after I go to post my comment.
  B) There is nothing that I love to do more than responding to my readers after they have left me a super sweet comment but when you don't have your email enabled, guess what?  I can't respond and I REALLY REALLY want to respond!  It's a simple fix for anyone posting on blogger.  Here it is:
Click on your DASHBOARD link at the top right.
Click on EDIT PROFILE.
Put a check mark next to "Show my email address".
Scroll to the bottom and click SAVE.  And you're all set!
*Mamarazzi is starting a new revolution about this.  Click HERE to find out more.

2.  Facebook status messages.  I have given up my love affair with facebook for the moment.  Wanna know why?  Some people update their status message every.flippin'.hour and I'm so OVER IT. I don't care that you're constipated.  I don't care that you just just found a dried up booger on your bedroom wall.  I don't care that your dog just made a big shadoobie on your brand new rug. {Note: all of these are true updates and from the same person on the same day I KID YOU NOT.} I love to read updates because I'm a stalker nosey-nelly like that but please, for the love of baby Jesus, don't update every hour.  I will de-friend you.

3.  Debbie Downers. They are all around us: at work, at church, in our personal life, on facebook and in the blogging world.  And yes, every once in a while, we all get down and depressed and need to get it off your chest to feel better. I get that.  I really do.  But do you have to be a Debbie Downer every single day?  Two days out of seven?  I can handle that. Six days out of seven?  You need improvement.Try to put a positive spin on the situation once in a while.  Try to talk about what's GOOD in your life. Try "pretending" to be happy.  Don't be THAT girl.  It just beats us down and makes us want to have a drink...or ten. I know some of you will agree.  {Please agree.} And quit thinking that this one is about you.  It's not.  I promise.

4. Talking during a movie.  This will only make me want to throw my popcorn and/or Coke in your face and one day, when my girlballs are bigger, I will seriously do this because I just paid $10 freakin' dollars to see a movie and the last thing I want to hear is you talking back to the screen, talking to your friend OUT LOUD, or talking on your cell phone (which probably rang since you didn't remember to turn it on silent) {Hello long-winded run-on sentence.}

5. Texting while driving.  I'm sure you are guilty of this.  I am too.  But I can't tell you how many times I've hurriedly passed someone on the highway who was swerving only to see that they weren't drunk like I thought; they are looking down to TEXT.  Are you kidding me?  Is it really that important? {I have totally called 3-1-1 on some peeps} What's even scarier is seeing a teenager do this.  Teenagers aren't great drivers anyway and now we add texting into the mix. Ok, I need to be Debbie Downer for just a second--SOME PEOPLE DIE FROM TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. If it's not them that dies, it could be them killing someone else. Once you've had this happen to someone you love, I promise you won't want to text while driving anymore. {Ok, Debbie Downer is o-u-t.}

So, those are my top 5 Pet Peeves and it only took me 13 days to narrow the list down.  What are YOUR top 5 pet peeves?  List them in the comments (where we always comment back) or even better...LINK UP! It makes us me feel loved. Kthanks.

XOXO,
Mrs. Coco

A "Shocking" Confession

A couple of times a year, I meet up with some Texas friends at a casino where we gamble {a little} but laugh A LOT!  There is always Cheetos and chocolate involved as well as some cheap good wine in plastic hotel cups.  We know how to par-tay, huh?!?  {The answer is yes we do.}

So this year, one of my friends brought a game to play. She messed up and showed me a video of her playing it for the first time.  After seeing that video, I said "H-E-double hockey sticks NO, I WILL NOT be playing that game!"  She assured me it doesn't hurt and her reaction was just because it scared her.  You see, this magical game SHOCKS you.  IT SHOCKS YOU PEOPLE!  Who likes to get shocked?  Anybody?  No.  Nobody likes it.  {If you do, please don't comment. I think you're weird.}

After much persuasion, she FINALLY peer-pressured me into playing this craptastic game called Lightening Reaction. Here is what it looks like:

You hold one of the four handles. The creepy music starts and the button in the middle begins flashing red but when it turns to green, you have to hit the button on top of your handle. The last one to hit their button gets shocked. Yes, I got shocked.  More than once.  It was not a fun.  I took some video of 3 of the girls playing it on the first night we were there.  Here is a 9 second video:

The next day, I was informed I had to be in a video.  I agreed but was seriously terrified.  Like pee-in-my-pants kind of terrified. Don't judge.  So, here is ME playing the game.  (It's 55 seconds long)

Guess what?  I didn't LOSE! {on video}

BOO-YAH!

Friday Confessional

Photobucket

Do you read Mamarazzi?  If not, you should.  She's awesome. She is hosting Friday Confessional today and the good Lord knows I always have LOTS to confess.

I confess that I texted (yes, you add an -ed to make it past tense) while driving this week.  I NEVER do that.  SHAME.ON.ME.

I confess that I made a little road trip last weekend to see a friend and did a little retail therapy for my less than stellar birthday.  I may have spent a little or a lot.  I'll never tell.

I confess that I fell back in love with an ex.  First name Captain.  Last name Morgan.  He's AMAZEBALLS.

I confess that I ate a cheeseburger on Tuesday. I've started a weight loss challenge with some friends that require us to weigh in weekly and confess our sins weight for a spreadsheet that is surely posted up at the Walmart for all to see.  Guess who gained a pound on the spreadsheet today?  That would be me.  I may start binge eating as soon as I post this.

I confess that I had road rage with some truckers this weekend.  For 38 minutes. (click the link for the full story if you dare)

I confess that when the story about the tragedy in Tucson, AZ first came out, I asked my hubby where TUCK-SON was.  Seriously people.  And I used to be an elementary school teacher.  In my defense, geography has never been my thing. DON'T YOU DARE JUDGE ME.

I confess that I accidentally watched from middle to end of Zack and Mira Make a Porno. Who doesn't enjoy Seth Rogan or Elizabeth Banks?  I am so ashamed of myself.  I felt so dirty that I had to take a shower immediately after.

I confess that I had a less than interesting conversation with a toothless meth-head at the Walmart yesterday.  She wanted to know where I found my "plump tomatoes".  At first I thought she was kidding so I laughed.  She wasn't kidding.  She couldn't find the tomatoes.  I LOVE my town. I wonder if she saw the weigh-in spreadsheet?

And finally I confess that Rihanna's song Only Girl is being played so much that it makes me want to poke my eardrums out with a dull pencil and slit my wrists with a tortilla chip.  Seriously.

Do you have something to confess?  Do it. You'll feel better.

A Flatulent Fib

Since today is my birthday, I feel like sharing a little "blast from the past".  Literally.  Please read on while I embarrass myself for all the world to read about.

I am an honest person for the most part. Since my mom is reading, I'll go ahead and tell you that I haven't always been such an honest person. As a teenager, I would lie just to lie. I was a horrible human being. One day, I lied too many times and my daddy beat me good. I'm pretty sure that cured me of lying. I could go on and on about horrible "ME" stories from my teenage years but I'll save some for another time.

Now don't get me wrong. I will say a couple of "white lies" on occasion. For example, when those pesky telemarketers call and they ask for me, I will usually say: I'm sorry, she's not home right now. May I take a message? or when Mr. Coco asks me what I've had to eat on any given day, I might conveniently forget to tell him about that snack sized Snickers that I had with my lunch, or when the Pastor at church asks a question like "raise your hand if you have sinned today" and I don't, knowing that I just gossiped about some crazy swinger in my new town to my BFF on the phone.

Being a teacher in Texas had one single perk: The salary compared to Oklahoma. The downfall of me becoming a TEXAS teacher: The TAKS test (which stands for Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test in case you were just dying to know).

It was TAKS testing day in Texas. If you're a teacher from Texas, you know all too well that this means you have kids throwing up on their tests and others peeing in their pants due to the anxiety of this flippin' test. I didn't make that up. That has happened on a few occasions. So, all was quiet in room 33 and I had just sat down to check my email (which, btw, you are no longer allowed to do during testing in Texas). My computer chair was a plastic chair--not like my comfy leather desk chair. I suddenly have the urge to pass a little gas.

DON'T YOU JUDGE ME! WE ALL HAVE MOMENTS LIKE THIS!

I for sure thought this was going to be a teeny tiny silent little gust of wind. I was wrong. Oh so wrong. I made the loudest, most vibrated noise that these kids had probably ever heard! I was petrified! I had to think quick! How was I going to handle this embarrassing situation? What would Oprah do?

I handled it in a very classy way: By standing up and asking "Who was that?? Who just did that??" (while giving them my meanest teacher stare). Of course, nobody came clean. They just stared at me like I was crazy. I secretly think they all knew it was me but I honestly reacted in the only way I could at that time. That was my first instinct. I was utterly embarrassed. Mortified might be a better adjective.

The next day, a parent brought up this little incident while dropping off her child. She said her son came home and said that someone "exploded in their pants" and he couldn't concentrate the rest of the day. Niiiiiice.

I'm sure I almost won Teacher of the Year that year.

Any embarrassing flatulent moments you'd like to share with me?  Oh please share!  I love a good laugh.

Sweaters and Trees and Santas, OH MY!

By a show of hands, how many of you attended one of those uber popular UGLY SWEATER PARTIES this year? I have NEVER attended one myself but if I ever got invited to such an event, I'm almost CERTAIN I could take home the grand prize wearing any one of these fabulous beauties:

And speaking of beauties, what I wouldn't give to be able to create such a work of art in my living room.  Some people have all the luck and creativity. DARN IT.

We've tried to take Little Coco to sit on Santa's lap FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES and she cried and acted terrified every single time.  I don't see anything wrong with any of our choices, do you?

Kids are so spoiled and high maintenance these days.

I hope you have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

MckLinky Monday: Christmas Dish

This time of year is my ABSOLUTE favorite time because we get to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus (and my dad) on December 25th and we get to eat LOTS and LOTS of great food! Me+food=BFF's for life.

I love the traditional Christmas meals that we do when we go visit my in-laws in Michigan and I also love the white trashed version of a "traditional" Christmas that we celebrate in my small Oklahoma town which looks a little something like this:
Yes, the family tree is built out of beer cans.  Don't be jealous.

But getting back to the subject of food, because we need to think about something other than the beer tree, I'll tell you I'm a sucker for a good casserole dish.  Green bean casserole is usually in attendance at both MI and OK celebrations;
I'm drooling..

 And of course my momma's WORLD FAMOUS Broccoli Cheese Casserole makes an appearance at both places (because it's my signature request item and I only get this delicious dish 2 tiny times a year and no Mrs. Edwards, your granny's isn't better!);
Of course we make a double batch because one whole pan is just for me

But this year, I'm making an additional casserole.  It's my newest favorite.  My friend IRL, Kelli, gave me this recipe several months ago and let me just tell you now, you will THANK ME (and her) for bringing this little piece of heaven into your life. It's called.....

*insert drum roll here please*

Corn Casserole
This is the part where I should say that you must like corn to like this recipe.  And who doesn't like corn?

It's so simple to make.  All you will need is:

  • 6 cans of corn- DRAINED
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • chopped jalapenos to taste with seeds (1 if you don't like spicy; 2-3 if you do)
  • salt and pepper to taste
And then you just mix it all together, place in a 9X13 dish and bake at 350 until warm.  How easy is this?  And of course it's totally fat free and low calorie (and I'm also a liar). The first time I made this, I didn't drain the corn so we had corn soup instead and guess what?  It was STILL a hit at the dinner table.

So what is YOUR favorite Christmas dinner dish?

Link up and tell us all about it on your blog! If you don't have time to link up, tell us in the comments and of course we'd love to have the recipe.

My Pee Story

Have you ever laughed so hard you had an "accident"?

Some of the blogs that I follow have me laughing out loud (for real...not just in my head) and I get so involved in reading them that when my body says, It's time to drain your bladder, Master, I tend to ignore the message as long as I can. Have I personally had an accident? Yes, but not from reading blogs. I've matured since the accident described below.

When I was 16 (which was like 4 or 5 years ago), I was driving me and a friend around town. We were laughing and having a great time. She was hilarious and had me laughing so hard my abs were getting their workout. Pretty soon, I decided I needed to get to a bathroom--quickly.

Well, here's the problem. I didn't do the whole public gas station bathroom business back then. They disgusted me (and they still do but now I just have to suck it up and use them). So, I'm trying to drive back to my house as quickly as possible but of course we see some cute friends stopped at the local gas station and we pulled in to chit chat.

This was my first mistake.

There were boys involved so we batted our eye lashes and smiled and twirled our hair and flaunted our B cup boobs, but in the back of my mind I was screaming I'm going to pee in my pants right in front of Cute Boy. I needed to escape as fast as I could.

I grabbed my friend and told Cute Boy and his friends that we'd be right back. Of course, being the girly girls that we were, we giggled and talked about the boys until my second mistake came into sight; having to wait on a stupid train. Oh my...and it was a long one. At this point, I'm holding the vajayjay area trying to keep the pee inside..like it was going to help the situation. LADIES, DON'T PRETEND LIKE YOU'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. I was so glad I wasn't driving a stick shift.

We're almost to my house and my third and final mistake happened. My friend said something funny and I died laughing! Guess what?

I peed.

In my car.

While driving. And it's running down my leg forming a pool of nice hot yellow liquid in the floor of my car. The clean-up was awesome.

I paid my friend a good sum of money to never repeat that story again.

But she did.

The very next day.

At school.

And Cute boy never talked to me again.

Good times.

Please tell me that you have an accident story too. It would make me feel so much better.

Are YOU a celebrity?

"Celebrity Bloggers" is a term I use to describe those bloggers who are so well known in bloggy-land that they no longer take the time to visit others blogs, and simply expect people to read theirs.

No, they're not "real celebrity blogs" but some sure act like they are. I understand that when you become so popular and you get over 1,000+ followers and every post gets 200+ comments, it would be a little difficult to visit everyone's blog and leave some bloggy love especially if you have a job and kids and a life outside of the blogging world--CRAZY HUH? I'm guilty of reading a blog and not commenting. Sometimes it's for one or more of these reasons:
  1. Someone already said what I was thinking.
  2. I stumbled on a blog and thought they are freaks too interesting for my taste buds
  3. The post is related to something that I personally can't relate to and then I don't know what to say (but they will know I was there thanks to their "stalker tracker" so I have to say SOMETHING) so I end up saying something stupid like "It's okay...just go get drunk".
Enlightening, I know. I should charge by the comment for my services.

But what irritates me the most is when a person has nowhere near that type of following but YOU leave them comments, repeatedly, and you get nothing. Ever. It sucks. And then you wonder, Did I say something wrong or offend them? because I can do that sometimes on purpose accident.

So eventually, you leave another comment. And nothing again. It's like going up to someone and saying "Will you be my friend?" and they answer you by stomping on your heart at the same time and saying "HELL NO"Okay..it's not that bad but you get the picture. That's when I stop following. I enjoy reading them but if you don't have time to leave me a comment, then I don't like you anymore! Enough said.

I also don't think that just because I'm following you, that you have to follow me (but I think it's a nice gesture).  If I leave you a comment, it would be nice to get one back. (Unless you're one of those annoying "giveaway" blogs.  Please don't be my friend.  Some people like that kind of blog.  I'm not one of those people.)

Here are 3 of my personal fav blogs that have a larger following but still manage to make it over to my little known blog and leave me some comment love:
Boobies, Babies and a Blog--2,022 followers

One Crazy Brunette Chick
Gucci Mama--557 followers

MiMi--348 followers

And do you see those buttons on the right of this page?  Those are OUR buttons to our personal blogs.  We are EXCELLENT at leaving comments so come visit us, follow us, leave us comments, tell your friends, and we'll return the favor.
*Please, for the love of blogging, make sure your email notification is turned on. Non-reply bloggers are no fun because we can't reply to you. If you don't know how to turn it on, simply ask and I'll be happy to tell you! =)

Who doesn't like to recieve a comment?  Who doesn't like to receive a new comment from a new follower?  Are you reading this post right now and thinking about NOT commenting?

Why must I torture myself?

{Hi RHOK followers!
I'm a new RHOK writer so I wanted to give you a quick introduction. My darling hubby and I recently moved back to Oklahoma from Texas and I couldn't be happier--except my small town is slightly dull and boring (and because of my experiences with a certain grocery store that I'm complaining about below). I was an elementary teacher for several years and now I am blessed to be a SAHM and lovin' every minute of it! I enjoy watching football, drinking wine and relaxing in bubble baths....usually my own.  I also love to read books (only good ones) and catching up on juicy gossip with my BFF's in Hollywood thanks to my weekly subscription to Us Weekly.}

What is that one thing in life that you hate doing?  Mine is grocery shopping...especially at Wal-Mart. I have a slight hatred towards this horrid place of madness. I prefer the more expensive, yet smaller version across town. Originally I wasn't going to Wal-Mart at all but I needed groceries for my dinner party AND I needed a punch bowl for a family member's baby shower. I was already on that side of town and I figured since it was 1:30 on a Thursday that I could get in and out quickly.

WHAT THE H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS WAS I
THINKING?

The trip started out great! I found a somewhat close parking space next to a cart return (yay...no extra walkin' for me!). I'm thinking that this is a sign of great things to come.

I was wrong.

Oh so wrong.

I walked in to grab a cart. I thought I was going to fight Mrs. Old Lady with purple hair and bright red lipstick for trying to run me down with her cart. Apparently there was a sale back in the fabric department and I was in her way.

Back off Old Lady. I got moves.

Strike One.

Thanks to another great idea from my girl Jenny, I was looking for some rubber duckies to put in my blue punch for the baby shower that I was co-hosting. I arrived to the baby section and asked a nearby employee in my nicest fake voice if she knows where the ducks are. She tells me they "don't got none". I didn't believe her so I went and looked anyway. Guess what? They have TONS of little duckies in a variety of colors. I wanted to take my find and shove it up her lying azz. Did I mention I was P.M.S.ing?

Strike Two.

As I'm making my way to find a punch bowl (the whole entire reason why I even WENT to freakinWal-Mart) I was spat at. Yes, you heard me correctly. A child was busy spitting at passerby's while his clueless Momma was talkin' on the phone, trying to decide what mirror she looked best in. My first instinct was to spit right back but I felt this would be immature and inappropriate (plus I thought they may be able to trace my DNA and come after me for something like "endangering a child via saliva"). I then felt compelled to yank his happy self out of that seat and spank his bum and then yell at his momma for not paying attention to her brat of a child but then I had a brief look at what her future held and I had a tad bit of sympathy for the poor girl. So I just stuck my tongue out at him and kept going.

Guess what? Wal-Fart was out of punch bowls. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!!

Strike Three.

When I grocery shop, I always start at the back and work my way forward. Just as I approached aisle 55 (or whatever aisle is the furthest from the front) guess what? I had to use the bathroom. It was an emergency people! That bean burrito that I consumed very quickly just minutes before my arrival into Never Never Land was not settling very well in my tummy. This was very serious stuff ladies and gentlemen. Guess where the bathrooms are located? In the front.  Guess who was doing the poo run to the front of the store? *raising hand*

When I arrive in said bathroom full of disgust, the only stall open was the first one. Guess what?It didn't stay shut and had zero toilet paper which could have been a HUGE problem. I had to wait patiently (bum-clenched to be specific) and guess who came out of the stall first? FreakinMrs. Old Lady with purple hair and red lipstick! I almost shoved her into the wall as I passed by.

Strike Four.

As I'm finishing up my grocery shopping, I came down an aisle with a mom and her 10 kids. This happens to me every flippin' time. At this point in my day, I had no energy left to battle with that hot mess of a family so I turn around and skip the aisle altogether. I go up the next aisle and just as I'm exiting, the family of 12 turns the corner and crashes into my basket. My eggs broke. Everywhere. Do I get an apology? No. Just a dirty look for being in her way.

Strike Five.

I hate Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart can suck it. I'm done with it.
