Sex and the City 2: Soundtrack Review, Giveaway & RHOK out news

It's been a long night for this RHOK star, as a large group of us all went to see SATC2 last night at the midnight premiere!  It was a very anticipated RHOK out (aka, Girls Night Out).

We are so happy to get to giveaway an original motion picture soundtrack for the movie, thanks to the One2One Network! So, first, we're covering that. Then, I will get to the movie.

Sex and the City 2: Original  Motion Picture Soundtrack was released on May  25th while the film opens in theaters, today,  May 27th.

The soundtrack  features a brand-new duet "Love is Your Color" by Grammy and  Academy Award® winner Jennifer Hudson, along with global superstar, multi-platinum recording artist and three-time Grammy Award nominee Leona Lewis. It also includes a new song by platinum-selling  CeeLo and International superstar Dido also contributes an exclusive new track.

You also get Grammy, Emmy, Golden Globe, Tony and Academy Award® winner Liza Minnelli covering Beyonce’s chart-topper “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”.  Oh, this one is stellar.  Liza doing Beyonce? Who thought that up!?!

Then, there is 12-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys performing her own extraordinary new version of the Blondie classic “Rapture” and "Empire State of Mind". The soundtrack also features the stars of Sex and the City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, performing the Helen Reddy classic “I Am Woman.”  Not to mention some Cyndi Lauper. Normally, friends, I am not a soundtrack lover or buyer. I've just never loved one all that much.  In fact, the last one I remember buying was for Far and Away. Oh, no, I am not kidding.

As you know this is a group blog, so we all had our turn and took a listen.  Personally, I, Mrs. Sinclair, thought: it was a great compilation of a very diverse group of songs.  I enjoyed the obvious middle eastern tones it has, it kind of makes you want to belly dance.

Mrs. McGillicutty remarks: If Sex and the City 2 at a desert cocktail party is what you want from a CD, then that is exactly what you will get.  Although smattered with the occasional dance song such as Rick Lee's "Can't Touch It," the Sex and the City 2 sound track consists mostly of mellow, relaxing tunes from some familiar artists  such as Cindy Lauper and Liza Minnelli  while mixing newer artists such as Alicia Keys.  It's perfect for playing in the background of your own cocktail party with all of your favorite girlfriends, whether you're in the desert or not.

Mrs. Albright adds: When coupled with the movie this soundtrack is perfect, but alone it doesn't quite hold together. However, there are a few songs that you'll find yourself singing along to or tapping your toes.

Mrs. Priss offered: Listening as we did before seeing the movie, I could picture different movie scenarios in my head. It lends itself well to interpreting the movie.

Mrs. Nesbitt dished: Cool & classy. Mixes a couple of oldies with new tunes. Girl's trip anyone?

Mrs. Hart says: "Totally Girlalicious!" Hip with an Egyptian/Middle Eastern flow. Makes me want to put on a long flowy dress with a pair of sling back's, with my hair down and enjoy a night of nothing but laughs, great convos, and a fruity drink with my girl's!

If you would like a chance to win your very own copy of the CD, comment below and point out the obvious discrepancy between the information on the track listings and the picture I added of the tracks printed on the CD insert above. Whoa! Who missed that type-o? You have until Friday night, May 28 at midnight, CDT to leave your comment and answer. (Even if you can't find it and give the wrong answer, it's okay. We'll forgive you and put your name in the hat anyway!) A winner will be chosen at random and announced Saturday, May 29th.  Also, don't forget, you can sign up to win a call from Sarah Jessica Parker

Now, about the movie! It was a great girls night out! We had a blast.  I thought it was a great sequel.  Without giving too much away, it was very fun, very funny, and as always- great fashion! The best part was about their friendships and how far they've come and evolved- some more than others. And, of course, Carrie and Big. Wedding vows are the new black diamond.

All the best,

Mrs. Sinclair
