Cooking Club Gone Wild

Just when I thought Cooking Club couldn't get any more fun, it did!

You may be asking, how could Cooking Club be that much fun!?! It's always a great time hanging out with other housewives, but hanging out with housewives at a party place is even better.

Fawn and Misty, co-owners of Soirée in Collinsville, OK opened their door to our little cult club. Their business is on the second floor of a very old building sporting wood floors and rustic-looking walls. The decor is shabby chic.
A-DOR-A-BLE!

I know several people who have had birthday parties at Soirée. I attended a spa party with my daughter for a 10 year-old's birthday. As soon as that party was finished, they got to work taking down all the girly pink and putting up decor more fitting for a boy's birthday party. You can visit their website to see a list of themes they offer. If you have an idea for one that they don't have listed, then you just need to ask. They are more than happy to try and accommodate your wishes.

I'm going to be attending my friend's 40th birthday party there in a few weeks. I can't wait for that party! Woo-Wee! It's one that's bound to have the town talking. I'm hoping she'll let me post pictures later.

Now that I've properly plugged Soirée, I need to tell you about Cooking Club. The theme was 30 minute meals. I'm not sure how many of the recipes were actually start-to-finish 30 minutes, but they're close.

We started the evening off opening the most coincidentally named bottle of wine. It was a Pinot Grigio called Mommy's Time Out. Appropriate, or what?!? It tasted really good.

All of the meals were really tasty, most of them containing cheese. We joked that we'd all be constipated for a week. The majority of the meals were ones my family would eat; however, the one I liked best, they wouldn't touch. (You'll find the recipe at the bottom of this post.) I made Sour Cream Chicken Casserole; the girls and my family liked it.

After stuffing ourselves with some good food, we climbed out a window onto the roof. Yes, you heard me right, we climbed or squeezed through a window. For some of us who have long legs it wasn't too hard, but for the shorter stature women it was a little more difficult. It was during this squeezing, pushing and pulling through that we had the most laughs. We laughed so hard that I was sure the cops would be there any time.

What on earth would our explanation be? Sorry, Officer, we got a little warm with all our cooking and needed to cool off on the roof. Cooking Club doesn't need to end up in the police reports in the newspaper!

After taking some pictures and yelling at some young, buff guys entering the gym across the street we started squeezing ourselves back through the window. Once inside, we put on some fun masks and took goofy pictures.

Soirée has a great sound system, awesome lighting and a disco ball. That, of course, leads to a lot of dancing. There's nothing more fun than shakin' your groove thang with a bunch of women.

We are planning to have Cooking Club there every month now. If you live locally and need some place to hold monthly gatherings for say a knitting club, photography class, scrap-booking, or just a girls' night out,  Soirée is the perfect place. We are already planning an end of summer-back-to-school party, for moms called.....  Mommy Needs a Cocktail. Sounds fun, huh?!

Steps:
  1. Place bacon in large saute pan on medium-high heat; cook and stir 5-7 minutes or until bacon is almost done. Cook pasta following package directions.
  2. Sprinkle shrimp with blackening seasoning and add to bacon; cook 1 minute. Stir in tomatoes, wine, garlic and pepper flakes; cook 2-3 minutes or just until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  3. Stir in scampi sauce and lemon juice. Top with parsley and serve over pasta.

As soon as this month's Cooking Club pictures hit Facebook, we had so many women asking if they could join our cult club. Thanks Soirée, for making cooking club the place to be.
